Why are Multivitamins Important?

Why are Multivitamins Important?

Most of us start taking some type of multivitamin or vitamin supplement from conception and beyond.

Your mom probably took pre-natal vitamins during pregnancy. Your first visits to the pediatrician include a prescription for a multivitamin drop, then you probably started school with the chewable that looked like your favorite cartoon character. Now you’re an adult and wondering about multivitamins and are there really benefits to taking them?

In a recent article on Livestrong.com by Joshua Duvachelle he discusses some of the potential benefits of Multivitamins. He describes what Multivitamins are:

Multivitamins are dietary supplements that come in tablet, capsule or pill form and provide you with an array of essential vitamins and minerals. You can find them in most grocery stores, as well as health food stores. Taking a multivitamin every day may provide several health benefits. Before taking vitamins, consult your doctor; pre-existing medical conditions or medications you are taking can affect how your body responds to multivitamins.[1]

Every vitamin is useful to the body in its own way. Some of these vitamins or nutrients work better when coupled with others. Most vitamins are available in food, but not everyone regularly eats balanced meals. Some people may have medical conditions which can cause deficiencies of required vitamins. These deficiencies can impact the absorption and utilization of those required vitamins and thus your overall health. Proactively, vitamins can be very useful in warding off certain medical conditions or improving the symptoms of current medical conditions.

Dr. Meghna Thacker, a board certified NMD discusses how “A good quality multivitamin is one that provides a balance of vitamins and minerals in a good therapeutic dose and is available in a form that is easily absorbed and assimilated by the body. Why is it so essential for both men and women to be on a good multivitamin? Years ago we were able to get our nutrients from the vegetables and fruits we consumed. Over the years the soil has been depleted of these nutrients and our food no longer provides what we always need. A good Multivitamin can supplement and provide your body with nutrients to nourish your cells, give you more energy, and help all the complex chemical pathways in your body to work in harmony.”

Simplesa has created a multivitamin called Daily 3 Multi. It contains 26 essential nutrients of the highest quality available.  It contains a core group of nutrients vital to proper nutrition as well as an extended list of other ingredients to help enhance health benefits.  This helps the body work the way it should and carry out important functions such as DNA synthesis and replication, enzymatic reactions, and a whole host of other processes.  Some of the benefits of Simplesa Daily 3 Multi include:

Anti-Aging – BioPQQ® (Pyrroloquinoline quinone) helps reduce the signs of aging at the cellular level, namely inflammation and mitochondrial damage.  BioPQQ® also supports the creation of new mitochondria, essentially reversing the effects of age of cells.

Antioxidant supplements  Daily 3 Multi contains a wide variety of natural antioxidant and anti-inflammatory nutrients to help the body counteract damaging oxidative reactions. These include special formulations of vitamin E, resveratrol, lycopene, quercetin, rutin, and extracts from grapeseed, fruits and berries, green tea and other sources.

“Cancer protectors”  Daily 3 Multi contains hesperidin, quercetin, resveratrol, Bioperine® and apigenin, several ingredients that help protect against certain cancers.

Cognitive – Luteolin is a powerful antioxidant and helps protect mitochondria from damage and the effects of aging. It also possesses anticancer properties and may improve cognitive performance.

Cardiac Health – Quatrefolic® is a very special form of folic acid that has extremely high bioavailability so it is absorbed by the body and enters cells much more readily than typical folic acid. Quatrefolic® works synergistically with vitamin B12 to lower homocysteine levels, which in turn helps protect the body against atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease.

Support Cholesterol Control and Cardiac Health -Taurine reduces oxidative stress and decreases the risk of free radical damage to the blood vessels to help combat coronary heart disease, cardiovascular disease and stroke. Taurine has also been shown to normalize cholesterol levels in people who are overweight.

Detox – N-acetyl-cysteine (NAC) is an immediate precursor of glutathione, the molecule that is most often attached to other molecules that the body is trying to eliminate as waste. While the body does not absorb glutathione very well, it does absorb NAC. Thus, supplementation with NAC helps the body eliminate toxins and unneeded chemicals.

Vision Support – Lutein and zeaxanthin are both critical for the proper function of the eye and are essential for vision.  Lutein and zeaxanthin help protect the eyes from oxidative damage and damage that can arise from ultraviolet light.  Additionally, recent studies have shown that lutein and zeaxanthin can significantly decrease the risk of cataracts in the center of the eye’s lens.

Simplesa Daily 3 Multi is taken three times a day, ideally spaced evenly throughout the day for maximum absorption.  Each bottle of contains 90 capsules for a 30-day supply. Read the table below to see some of the ingredients and the benefits to best understand how this Multivitamin will help you!
